Brilliant, Unconscious
Use of The Safety Energy Locks of
Jin Shin Jyutsu
We all engage in the ancient Japanese
healing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu, most
probably without even realizing it.
Placing fingers to the forehead in
concentration, cradling an injured body
part, a baby sucking her thumb, such
reflexes make use of the concepts of Jin
Shin Jyutsu to restore harmony to the
body from imbalances due to stress,
injury, or illness.
Like most Asian healing modalities, Jin
Shin Jyutsu works to harmonize, not just
the body, but the mind and spirit as
well. The healing art works to bring
into balance the twenty-six "safety
energy locks" that run through the
energy pathway down center of the front
of the body and back up the spine.
Reading pulses throughout the body, a
Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner is able to
restore balance to the body by
unblocking points of stagnant energy.
Jin Shin Jyutsu can also be self
administered, allowing one to recognize
the wisdom of the body and what it needs
to heal itself.
The Main Central Vertical Harmonizing
Flow is the source of our life energy.
Harmonizing the flow regularly helps us
feel centered and energized or relaxed,
depending on what our body needs. Jin
Shin Jyutsu works like "jumper cables"
to recharge the "battery of life." For
optimum results, do the following
exercise daily.
Place the fingers of your right hand on
top of your head. Place the fingers of
your left hand on your forehead, between
the eyebrows, and hold them there for
two to five minutes or until the pulses
at your fingertips synchronize. Move the
fingers on your left hand to the tip of
your nose and again hold for two to five
minutes or until the pulses synchronize.
Next, move the fingers of your left hand
to your sternum at the center of your
chest and then to the base of your
sternum, the center where the ribs
start, above your stomach. Stay at each
point for two to five minutes or until
the pulses synchronize. Move the fingers
of the left hand to the top of the pubic
bone and again stay there for two to
five minutes or until the pulses
synchronize. Now, keep your left fingers
in place and move your right hand to
cover your tailbone, holding for two to
five minutes until your fingertips
synchronize.
Self healing opens the door to self
knowledge. Jin Shin Jyutsu is a simple
practice that can be done in a matter of
minutes leading to a life time of
healing.

The Origins of Jin Shin
Jyutsu
Various forms of traditional oriental
medicine have been used for millennia to
restore health, vitality, and mobility,
to heal injuries, and to prevent
sickness, by bringing to balance and
maintaining a smooth flow of life force
or internal energy throughout the body's
energy pathways. Jin Shin Jyutsu is an
advanced form of traditional Asian
medicine that is known to pre-date
Buddha. Jin Shin Jyutsu predates the
more well-known arts of Acupuncture,
Acupressure and Shiatsu, and is thought
to be the source from which these
healing therapies sprang. Its origins
have been traced through ancient texts
to approximately 1300 B.C. and it is
believed to be the innate healing art of
ALL Living Things.
Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese
art that existed for many centuries,
passed from one generation to the next
through oral teachings. However, over
time it slowly fell into obscurity as
the interest in its practice declined
and eventually faded from common
knowledge. Jin Shin Jyutsu was
rediscovered in Japan in the early
1900's by Jiro Murai, who in his quest
to heal himself from an untreatable
terminal illness, researched and studied
a number of different schools of
traditional oriental medicine and
spiritual disciplines.
By using these ancient teachings, Jiro
Murai was able to miraculously heal
himself, and proceeded to devote the
rest of his life to further researching
and refining this methodology for
harmonizing vital internal energy that
we now know as Jin Shin Jyutsu. He
passed on this knowledge to his
students, Mary Burmeister, who then
brought it to the United States in 1954,
and to Dr. Haruki Kato, who remains in
Japan practicing and teaching Jin Shin
Jyutsu to Japanese Medical
Professionals.
Literally translated, Jin Shin Jyutsu
means: "Art of the Creator through
Compassionate Person"
JIN ̵ Person of knowing and
compassion
SHIN ̵ Universal intelligence,
Spirit, or Creator,
JYUTSU – Art.
Master Murai also referred to this
system as “the Art of Longevity” and
“the Art of Benevolence.” After many
years of research and practice of the
art, Mary Burmeister added the
description, "Physio-Philosophy" because
she felt it would facilitate a better
understanding of the true breadth of
this art. Physio in this case meaning
"Nature, (One Order)" and Philosophy
meaning the "Effortless Reality".

HOLD YOUR FINGERS!
Jin
Shin Jyutsu is an art, a practice, of
harmonizing the energy in the body. Jin
(man or person of compassion) Shin (the
Creator) Jyutsu (art) can be translated
as “the art of the Creator through the
person of compassion.”
Jin
Shin Jyutsu, as we know it today, is a
rediscovery of ancient healing wisdom.
Having been passed down orally for
generations, it had disappeared from
general knowledge. It was rediscovered
by Jiro Murai, in Japan, at the turn of
the 20th century. Experimenting on his
own body, he was able to heal himself
from a life-threatening illness that no
doctor had been able to cure. He
dedicated his life to discovery and to
teaching what he learned. Mary
Burmeister, a Japanese-American woman
who studied with Jiro Murai, brought Jin
Shin Jyutsu to the United States in the
1960’s. Her systemizing of the knowledge
and her teaching has spread the art all
over the world.
Classes are taught in self-help and in
practitioner training. This art can be
used by oneself, for oneself. The theory
behind it is that energy flows naturally
and easily through a relaxed, open body.
However, our daily tensions cause the
energy to become blocked at various
points in the body. The art of Jin Shin
Jyutsu, applied through self-help or
through the hands of a practitioner,
unlocks the blockages and allows the
energy once again to flow freely. It is
very much an awareness practice of “Now
Know Myself.”
Mary
Burmeister has said, “The truth is that
within each of us lies the power to cast
all misery aside and to KNOW complete
Peace and Oneness, to BE that beautiful
creation of perfect harmony, to truly
KNOW (Help) Myself.”
One
need not even attend a class to begin
practicing the art of Jin Shin Jyutsu.
You can start right now.
All
of the flows of energy in the body pass
through the ten fingers of the hands.
Simply holding each finger of each hand
in succession, using the fingers of the
other hand, can release blocked energy
and move us toward peace and ease. It’s
a wonderful practice for times when you
must wait, like standing in line at the
bank or the market. You can spend as
little as ten seconds on each finger, or
you can sit quietly and focus on each
finger for as long as you like.
Each
of the five fingers is also associated
with an attitude:
thumb
= worry
index
= fear
middle = anger
ring
= grief, sadness
little = pretense or “trying to” or
“efforting”
So
in times when we might be identified
with one of these, simply holding the
associated finger can begin to release
us from the grip of that identification.

JIN SHIN JYUTSU IS…
Jin Shin Jyutsu is
the ancient art of harmonizing the
life-force energy of the physical body
system with the Universal Pulse
(Rhythm); The Creator's Art, an innate
part of Human Wisdom. Jin Shin Jyutsu®
was widely known before the birth of
Buddha in India, before Moses and before
The Kojiki (The Japanese Record of
Ancient Things, 712 AD.)
Practitioners of Jin Shin Jyutsu are not
the "do-er's". Rather we act as "jumper
cablers" to restore the correct flow
within the body, from the Infinite
Supply of Universal Energy. Jin Shin
Jyutsu is the Creator's Art of
Compassion and Self-Awareness, an innate
part of human wisdom waiting to be
Harmonized.
Plato said, "All learning is
remembering." And all is within us,
waiting to be brought to correct
movement. We are always utilizing parts
of Jin Shin Jyutsu naturally; folding
our hands, leaning on our cheeks,
placing our hands on our hips. With
increasing awareness, we understand what
these holds mean, how we move to
un-block the stagnation of energy, when
to utilize the flows and mudras, where
the energy flows and the way of life -
the philosophy. All the answers to our
life and form are contained right within
us.
Jin Shin Jyutsu is the knowing of the
three main vital energy pathways, known
as "The Trinity Flows” which descend and
ascend, back and forth within the body.
These pathways harmonize and balance the
mind, body, and spirit, connecting
through twenty-six key energy point
locations within the body. These key
points are called Safety Energy Locks.
These SEL’S release stagnated or blocked
energy and tension allowing the energy
to flow freely in its natural harmonious
pattern.
Now the question arises; How? We have
two hands that act as jumper
cables-simple, gentle placement of the
hands on specific SAFETY ENERGY LOCKS
(“The Little God’s”) to revitalize and
harmonize the body system. This
application is an easy and practical
method to energize and balance the body
physically, mentally, emotionally, and
spiritually, with and through the
Universal Energy Source. Through Jin
Shin Jyutsu, attitudes (emotions) and
disharmony (illness) begin to dissipate
one by one. And all unnecessary burdens
are unloaded to make way for complete
harmony from within and beyond.

GET YOURSELF SOME
HARMONY
Jin
Shin Jyutsu is the art of harmonizing
the life energy of the body. It was
rediscovered in the early 1900's in
Japan by Jiro Murai, who saved himself
from a fatal illness and subsequently
dedicated his life to developing,
studying, and teaching this art. His
first student, Mary Burmeister, was a
young Japanese-American whom he offered
the gift of Jin Shin Jyutsu to be
brought to America. Mary brought Jin
Shin Jyutsu to the US in 1954 and since
then, Jin Shin Jyutsu has spread
world-wide, being taught now in over 23
different countries to well over 14,000
students.
Jin Shin Jyutsu is considered a "physio-philosophy,"
which means that it is more than just a
type of body-work; it is a way of life.
It can be performed on one’s self or by
a trained Practitioner. It works through
holding certain places on each side of
the body, known in Jin Shin Jyutsu as
Safety Energy Locks. There are 26 Safety
Energy Locks on the right side of the
body and 26 on the left. In a Jin Shin
Jyutsu session, the practitioner applies
her hands (over clothing) to the
client's Safety Energy Locks in any
number of specific sequences to
facilitate the release of blocks to
optimal energy flow. Such blocks are
acquired through the tensions and
stresses of every day living, and can be
caused by any number of abuses to the
body or mind: improper nutrition,
habitual bad posture, stressful
lifestyle, pollution, or negative
mindset. One will often notice after
treatment that not only has the body
profoundly relaxed, but the mind and
spirit are more relaxed and positive as
well.
Part of what Jin Shin Jyutsu
Practitioner, Pat Gallagher, loves so
much about Jin Shin Jyutsu is its
accessibility; it can be performed by
anyone who is shown which place on the
body to hold, and results can be felt
almost immediately. Also, its tenant of
self-help is appealing. Clients can be
taught to work on themselves at home so
that they no longer experience the pain
or symptoms that originally led them to
seek assistance. And if nothing else,
people acknowledge a deep sense of
relaxation after a Jin Shin Jyutsu
session that is healing and beneficial.
With the abundance of research linking
well-being to stress-reduction nowadays,
who couldn't use a good dose of Jin Shin
Jyutsu?
Finally…Instant
Anxiety Relief (Without Needles or
Drugs!)
©2008, Pat A. Gallagher
Do you ever feel
like someone is sitting on your chest?
Like you can’t take a deep breath? Like
you can’t stop the thoughts from racing
in your brain?
Anxiety is an everyday reality for many
and an occasional problem for almost
everyone. There are just too many things
to worry about, juggle and resolve. Too
much information to process!
What to do? The way I see it, you have 3
options: 1) take a pill; 2) go live in a
cave or 3) experience a Jin Shin Jyutsu
series to clear the anxiety from your
system.
Let’s assume that you want to avoid the
drugs (or find that you don’t like the
side effects) and cave dwelling is not a
realistic option. That leaves Jin Shin
Jyutsu (JSJ). JSJ is an ancient Japanese
Healing Art, which predates acupressure
and acupuncture. Like acupuncture, it
works on the energetic flows of the
body, but without the needling.
While Jin Shin Jyutsu is fairly new to
the Midwest, hospitals across America
and around the world have practitioners
on site to help alleviate anxiety and
pain, enhance the immune system, balance
digestion, prevent chronic fatigue, and
achieve emotional equilibrium.
The Jin Shin Jyutsu perspective of your
state of health or disharmony is based
on how the energy flows in your body. A
JSJ practitioner is trained to assess
your energetic flows by feeling for
“pulses” and noticing how you hold the
body. During a session, you lie on a
table, fully clothed, while the
practitioner uses her hands as “jumper
cables” along critical energy centers of
your body. The experience is safe,
harmonizing and relaxing.
Clients commonly report great relief
from anxiety, especially with a series
of sessions. Seasoned Jin Shin Jyutsu
practitioners can also provide clients
with simple self-help techniques to
support the body between sessions.
SAFETY
Intensive care patients, children,
elderly, and other patients who are not
good candidates for deep
tissue or massage bodywork CAN receive
Jin Shin Jyutsu. There are no defined
contraindications for
Jin Shin Jyutsu, as the Gentle Hands On
is noninvasive.

for anxiety using Jin Shin Jyutsu, go to

to experience the profound relief that
comes from a complete JSJ session or
series, call 314-550-2112.
What Do My
Feelings Have To Do With My Health and
What Do You Mean I'm Not Breathing
Correctly???
In Jin Shin Jyutsu,
as trained Practitioners, we are taught
to "read" the body, "listen" to the
pulses to determine the nature of the
person's disharmony. It is an esoteric
gathering of information which then
allows Practitioners to decide which JSJ
flow or sequence of flows to perform.
Sometimes the core issue hides or is
burdened by another 'cloak'. People tell
me what is going on with their body, but
then I listen to their body which often
tells a very different story. THE BODY
NEVER LIES, it cannot, it does not know
deceit, a human construct. People make
up or leave out key pieces of
information out of FEAR of judgement by
the Practitioner, but we are trained
never to judge, only to BE present with
the person receiving JSJ.
We gently place our hands on any of the
26 specific points on the body called
THE SAFETY ENERGY LOCKS, OR "THE LITTLE
GODS". By specific placement of the
hands, we flip the switches to 'brighten
the light' or 'turn up the harmony of
the body's music'. This hand placement
brings the person back into alignment by
igniting the body's own innate ability
to heal itself.
Jin Shin Jyutsu teaches that all
disharmony is caused by one or more of
the 'ATTITUDES': Worry, Fear, Anger,
Sadness & Pretense - with Fear being the
real Mothership of all Attitudes.
95% of my clients come to me because of
a physical challenge. So people come to
have physical ailments alleviated and
what is REVEALED is the ATTITUDE behind
that dis-ease. Low and behold, what
happens is that the client's ATTITUDE
changes, which in turn, restores a deep
level of harmony on all 3 levels. Body,
Mind & Spirit.
So as we examine the ATTITUDES, we might
think of WORRY as PRAYER/MEDITATION in
REVERSE. SADNESS (the most dangerous of
all the ATTITUDES) is FEAR that we might
not get what we want. ANGER is FEAR that
others won't make us HAPPY. PRETENSE is
FEAR that we are not really who we think
we are (a watermelon does not try to be
an apple). These are all
interchangeable, but you can get a feel
for how this works.
To harmonize the ATTITUDES, hold your
fingers:
THUMB=WORRY
INDEX=FEAR
MIDDLE=ANGER
RING=SADNESS
LITTLE=PRETENSE
Hold each finger until you get a nice
strong pulse & yes you may hold other
people's fingers.
The first thing that strikes me about
nearly all of the people that I work
with is that they do not know how to
breathe correctly. Another "SECRET" is
breathing correctly. Proper breathing
provides good health, joy, good posture
& overall harmony. So to breathe
correctly, think about how babies and
puppies breathe. They fill their
abdomen, not their chest. They breathe
in all life and possibility and exhale
completely all that is no longer needed.
It really is that simple.

WORRY IS PAYMENT ON A DEBT NEVER
OWED!
How many times have
you worried about something that never
came true? Statistics say that nearly 90
percent of the time the problems we
worry about never come to pass. JIN SHIN
JYUTSU TO THE RESCUE! With this Powerful
Healing Art, the attitude of ‘worry’
effects stomach and spleen energy and
can cause significant health problems.
How can you stop worrying; thinking
about the past and projecting into the
future and start living in the present
moment so you don’t deplete your energy
sources? BREATHE!
Escaping From Mental Bondage
By holding the specific Safety Energy
Lock spheres of energy, you can
successfully release blocked passageways
that effect respiration, digestion,
mental health, addictions, cravings,
acne and other problems that can result
in dis-ease. By harmonizing the energy
patterns that correspond to worry in Jin
Shin Jyutsu, we are able to “BE” in the
world, but not carry its weight. In this
way, we can clear abdominal distress,
breathing and congestion, clarify our
thinking, speech, and harmonize both
physical and mental challenges. Jin Shin
Jyutsu is the gentle art of relaxation
and harmonizing energy that can
dissipate worry from the cell tissues of
the body. A 7000 Yr Old Healing Art
involving gentle application of hands on
the body, it rallies the body’s own
healing mechanisms. Similar to
acupuncture and acupressure massage, Jin
Shin Jyutsu is non-invasive, working
over clothing without the use of
needles.
Jin Shin Jyutsu Does
Jin Shin is used to stimulate the
movement of stagnant “Chi” through
Safety Energy Locks, similar to
meridians or trigger points. Energy
Flows moving through the body are
affected by lifestyle stress, attitudes,
genetics, environment, illness and
trauma.
For A Treatment
If you would like to know more about Jin
Shin Jyutsu and how it works, please
call for an appointment. A session lasts
about an hour and is done by placing the
hands over clothing on specific energy
spots. Because it is so gentle, it does
not have any contra-indications and can
be done on anyone, even prior to or
immediately after surgery. It balances
the life energy by working on the cause
of the disease as well as the actual
disease that has been manifested. Jin
Shin Jyutsu is very beneficial for
auto-immune diseases, strokes,
cardiovascular problems, and depression,
sleep disorders, arthritis, allergies
and other health concerns. For more info

YOU ARE THE STAR
The Healing Power of Jin Shin Jyutsu and the
Cosmos
16th Century physician, philosopher and
mystic, Paracelsus described the human body
as “the Microcosm of the Macrocosm”. I
mentioned this to a fellow JSJ Practitioner
who said that notion reminded her of tree
leaves and what appears to be a system of
veins within that leaf. That conversation
jolted something profound for me about the
connectedness of all things, visible and
invisible. It spoke to the separate yet
similar blueprint of EVERYTHING.
If we look to astrology and say, “I am a
Taurus”, that means ‘I embody the STARDUST
of VENUS’, the star, the planet or the super
nova. The blueprint of the leaf mirrors that
of the Stardust of Venus and our own bodies.
In Jin Shin Jyutsu, we act as architects
that analyze a big broad concept and filter
it through our own systems to create healing
plans for our clients. We are taught to
bring the wisdom of the Universe to bear on
the ‘Challenges’ of our clients. We begin
working with our clients on a very large
cosmic level, then we begin to get smaller
and smaller and more specific and personal.
As we work at the densest level, the
physical body, we go even deeper and work at
the invisible level which takes us right
back out to the cosmos. You Are The Star!
